Talbotís discussion of my paper (Wilson, 2003) is welcome since it invites further evaluation of the data that is supposed to support the concept of submarine allochthonous salt sheets, which has been acclaimed as the single most important discovery in salt tectonics in recent times (Jackson and Talbot 1991, p. 28). This reply is a follow-up to a previous discussion on the same subject (Hossack, 1994; Wilson, 1994).
